Brendon McCullum blasted Bangladesh

Considering the run-up to the ICC World Twenty20 2012, Bangladesh and New Zealand would have been considered equals. But then, when someone like Brendon McCullum gets it right, which isn’t often enough to make New Zealand a top contender, no opposition looks good enough. Riding on McCullum’s 58-ball 123, New Zealand made short work of Bangladesh, winning its Group D contest at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium by 59 runs. 

Opener’s role has suited me well - Mohammad Ashraful

Bangladesh batsman Mohammad Ashraful is enjoying his position at the top of the order.
Although he remains on the sidelines in Test and ODI cricket, Ashraful has thrived as an opener in T20 cricket since earning a recall in July.

The Tigers reached the pearl of Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka for their ICC World T20 campaign on Wednesday. Upon the team’s arrival in Colombo, batsman Mohammad Ashraful shared his impressions of the recent T20 tournament in Trinidad.

Q: How would you rate Bangladesh’s performance in the recently concluded quadrangular T20 tournament, commemorating Trinidad & Tobago’s 50 years of independence?

Ash: I think we did fairly well. We won easily against Barbados and Afghanistan by chasing in rain-reduced games. We should have beaten Trinidad & Tobago in the last match after having them reeling on 12 for five but they got home in the final over. Batting second was a lot easier at Queen’s Park Oval as the bowlers were finding it extremely difficult to grip the ball because of dew and the ground was wet.

Bangladesh XI in a easy win over Barbados XI

Mushfiqur Rahim's men posted a comfortable seven-wicket victory in their rain-interrupted first match against Barbados in the Trinidad Quadrangular T20 competition at the Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain on Thursday night.

BCB is going to model the country's lone first-class competition -- the National Cricket League (NCL) -- on a franchise-based system. The fourteenth version of the tournament will start from October 14 at four different venues across the country, said BCB president AHM Mustafa Kamal after the board's emergency meeting yesterday.
