ICC ODI Team of the Year

The ICC named MS Dhoni as captain of its ODI Team of the year, with opening batsman Gautam Gambhir and the in-form Virat Kohli also featuring in the 12 names announced by the game's apex body on Friday.
The team, chosen by a specially appointed selection panel chaired by West Indian batting legend and former captain Clive Lloyd, includes players from six countries - India (3), England (2), Australia (2), Sri Lanka (2), Pakistan (2) and South Africa (1).

Saeed Ajmal becomes number-one ranked ODI bowler

Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has moved up two places to replace teammate Mohammad Hafeez as the number-one ranked bowler in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI bowlers.
The latest Reliance ICC Player Rankings that were released on Thursday incorporate both the Pakistan-Australia and England-South Africa ODI series.

Hafeez becomes number-one ODI bowler in ICC rankings

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has replaced South Africa paceman Lonwabo Tsotsobe as the number-one ranked bowler in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI bowlers, which were released on Monday after a one-off ODI between Australia and Afghanistan.
Hafeez and Tsotsobe swapped places on the bowlers' table after the first match in the England-South Africa ODI series at Cardiff on 24 August, which was abandoned due to rain.

Saeed Ajmal Kumar Sangakkara & Hasim Amla nominated for 3 ICC awards

Six players have been nominated in three different categories for the LG ICC Awards 2012, Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal, South Africa's Hashim Amla, Australia captain Michael Clarke, Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, England's Alastair Cook and West Indies Stafanie Taylor.

The six players all feature in the ICC Cricketer of the Year, the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, long list, while the male nominees are all nominated in both the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year and ICC Men's ODI Cricketer of the Year long lists, Taylor on the other hand features in the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year and ICC Women's T20I Cricketer of the Year long lists.

Australia loses top ODI spot to England after annual update

Four-time former world champion Australia has lost its number-one position on the Reliance ICC ODI Championship for the first time since September 2009 following an annual update which took place on Wednesday.
Australia has fallen to fourth spot which is its lowest ranking since the ODI table was launched in 2002 as its outstanding record of 30 wins and eight defeats from 40 ODIs in 2009-10 does not reflect any longer after the update.

Pietersen returned to top 10 of ICC Test rankings

England's talismanic batsman Kevin Pietersen has returned to the top 10 of the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen after smashing a sparkling century against South Africa in the second Test that ended in a draw at Headingley, Leeds, on Monday.
The latest rankings were released on Tuesday after the conclusion of the Leeds Test and also incorporate performances from the Jamaica Test, which was won by the West Indies against New Zealand by five wickets on Sunday to seal a series win of 2-0.

Three Indian Batsmen in top 10 in ICC ODI Rankings

India's Virat Kohli has achieved a career-best ranking in the latest Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen which were released a day after the conclusion of India-Sri Lanka series.
Kohli, who entered the series as the third-ranked ODI batsman, has moved up one position to second following his player of the series performance in which he scored 296 runs. The former India U19 captain, who led his side to victory in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2008 in Malaysia, also achieved a career-best rating of 866 after the fourth ODI in which he scored 128 not out in India's six wickets victory.

Bangladesh climbs to no.6 in ICC t-20 rankings

Bangladesh's exciting one-run win over Ireland on Friday, which gave them an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, also catapulted them to No. 6 in the ICC Twenty20 rankings - this is the first time Bangladesh feature in the rankings. They are now ahead of New Zealand, India and West Indies, while Ireland, who were in ninth position, drop a place to tenth.
