Sri Lanka name U-19 world cup squad

The National selectors have named Sanitha de Mel, as the captain of the Sri Lanka Under-19 team for the ICC Youth World Cup, which will be held in Australia, in August. The speedster will captain an unchanged team.

According to sources close to the Sports Ministry, the national selectors have forwarded names of the same team that toured Malaysia recently, for Sports Ministry approval.

Sri Lanka Under-19s reached the semi-finals of the recently concluded Asia Cup tournament. They were beaten by India in the semi-final after reaching that stage unbeaten.

Incidentally, Sri Lanka Under-19 had a few worries in the batting department, with some of the top order batsmen failing in the tournament in Malaysia.

Sri Lanka Squad:

Sanitha de Mel (Captain), Angelo Jayasinghe, Pabasara Waduge, Shehan Fernando, Kasun Vidura, Jason Perera, Niroshan Dickwella, Sandun Weerakkody, Pulina Tharanga, Lahiru Madusanka, Chamoda Pathirana, Ranitha Liyanaarachchi, Anuk Fernando, Amila Aponso and Tharindu Kaushal.
