Alastair Cook expects Australia Ashes fightback after India loss


England captain Alastair Cook says Australia's Test whitewash by India will have no bearing on the Ashes.
Australia lost 4-0 in India on a tour that saw four players dropped for disciplinary reasons.
They will face England in 10 Tests over the next 10 months.

Indian selectors on Saturday left out dashing batsman Virender Sehwag from a 30-man preliminary squad for the Champions Trophy in England in June.

Seasoned off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and veteran seamer Zaheer Khan were also missing from the list, which has to be shortened to 15 players a month before the one-day tournament opens on June 5.

ICC introduces new 'No ball' playing condition


The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced a new playing condition for Tests, One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20s) that instructs the umpires to call 'No ball' whenever a bowler breaks the non-striker's wicket during the act of delivery.

Ashes contenders miss out on central contracts


Australia have announced their list of centrally contracted players for 2013-14 - with several recent Test players omitted from the 20-strong list.
Jackson Bird, Moises Henriques, Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith were all in the Test squad in India last month, but have missed out on contracts.
Batsman Khawaja was one of four players controversially dropped for the third Test for a breach of discipline.

Shakib Al Hasan joins Leicestershire for FL t20


Leicestershire have signed Shakib Al Hasan as their second overseas player for this summer's FL t20 competition.
The Bangladesh star, who bats left-handed and bowls left-arm spin, is currently the world's top-ranked all-rounder in one-day internationals.
