BCCI to award 20lakh Cash Prize for the Indian U-19 team
The BCCI on Sunday announced a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh each for members of the Indian team which lifted its third Under-19 World Cup title in Townsville after defeating defending champions Australia.
BCCI President N Srinivasan congratulated the team, which was led superbly by unbeaten centurion skipper Unmukt Chand in the final against the defending champions.

Australia advanced to the final of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup
Australia advanced to the final of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup after defeating South Africa by four wickets in Townsville on Tuesday.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl at Tony Ireland Stadium, the home side managed to restrict South Africa to 191for eight from its 50 overs.
Cameron Bancroft (65) and Kurtis Patterson (49) then impressed with the bat to help Australia seal victory with nine balls to spare as they finished at 192 for six.

Sri Lanka and Ireland progress in the Plate
Sri Lanka thumped Nepal by eight wickets while Ireland defeated Namibia in Monday's Plate Championship action at the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
The two Plate quarter-finals were played in Brisbane, with Sri Lanka rarely troubled in their easy win at Peter Burge Oval.

India play with Pakistan in Quarter Finals
The quarter-final line-up of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012 was completed on Thursday with all the Full Members with the exception of Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe progressing to the Super League stage. On Thursday, as many as four sides confirmed their berths in the Super League quarter-finals, which will be played in Townsville on 19 and 20 August.

Pakistan, who beat Afghanistan by 109 runs in their first match on Saturday, chased down Scotland’s 200 on a canter -- in 36.2 overs. Openers Sami (76) Aslam and Babar Azam (106 not out) added 163 runs to make it a one-sided affair.

Defending a modest total of 188 Sri Lankan U-19 bowlers didn't allow Irish batsman to get close to the target. Irish opener R A Hunter scored a 50 and he was the only batsman to cause problem to Sri Lankans.P H T Kaushal picked up 6 wickets for 20 in 8.3 overs. Indian U- 19 recorded their second win in warm-ups today by beating Afghanistan U- 19 by 52 runs. India U-19 won the toss and elected to bat and posted 271/7 in their 50 overs. Indian top 3 batsman P Chopra (67) U Chand (70) B Aparajith (83) scored half centuries. For Afghn U-19 Shabir Noori picked up 4 wickets for 44 runs in 10 overs. In reply Afghanistan U-19 bowled out for 219 in 46.2 overs. Shabir Noori scored 62 and Javed Ahmadi scored 50. Harmeet Singh picked up 5 wickets for 32 in 10 overs.

After winning the toss Pakistan U-19 elected to field and restricted PNG U-19 for modest 194/6 in 50 Overs. L Siaka top scored for PNG with 46 runs. Usman Qadir picked up 3 wickets for Pakistan. In Reply Pakistan cruised to victory with 2 wickets down in 32.3 overs. Pakistan opener Sami Islam hit wonderful century scoring 132 in 99 balls.

West Indies great fast bowler Courtney Walsh, who is in Australia in a new role as manager of the West Indies under-19 World Cup team has revealed the secrets of his long survival as a frontline pacer, which saw him being injured only twice in his playing career.
Walsh said he was able to cope with the stresses and strains of pace bowling due to the way he was brought up.

Bangladesh U-19 won against Papua New Guinea
Bangladesh Under-19 team bounced back strongly from their 31-run loss against West Indies Under-19 by handing a massive 129-run defeat to Papua New Guinea in their second and final unofficial practice match at the Caloundra Cricket Club, Brisbane yesterday.
Bangladesh Under-19s posted 235 runs before getting dismissed in 49 overs, thanks to a 110-run ninth wicket partnership between Nurul Hasan and Nayeem Islam. Hasan made 50 off 70 balls that featured three boundaries while Nayeem hit unbeaten 60 off 86 balls that contained five fours and a six.

The Sri Lanka U-19 team left the country yesterday (Friday) to take part in the U-19 World Cup held in Australia from August 11 to 26.
Sanitha De Mel, the young Sri Lankan skipper said in an interview he is happy with the team, "Entire team is talented and good. We have four experience players in the side Niroshan Dickwella, Anjelo Jayasinghe,Sandun Weerakkody and Amila Aponso who has played U-19 for a while now".

Indian under-19 skipper Unmukt Chand on Friday said interaction with Sachin Tendulkar will help the team in their title defense.
"We interacted with Sachin. He tried to give a lot of positive feedback and shared with us some of the experiences he had in the past 20 years. He spoke on World Cup and on the pressure. He told us to be ourselves on field and not worry about other things. So it was very good for us," Chand told reporters.

Yuvraj Singh, who is recuperating well from a rare germ cell cancer played a practice match for the first time since his return to field scoring 47 for KSCA XI against India U-19 team which is gearing up for the Youth World Cup.
