Hong Kong Sixes stars look to impress selectors


Chamara Kapugedera and Wayne Parnell will spearhead the Sri Lankan and South African campaign for glory at the Karp Group Hong Kong Sixes at the Kowloon Cricket Club this weekend.

Kapugedera, 25, who has lost favour with Sri Lanka's selectors and was overlooked for the recent ICC World Twenty20, will be hoping a good tournament helps him to get back into the spotlight with Sri Lanka hosting New Zealand in a test and one-day series soon.

Hosts Hong Kong team named their squad


Hard-hitting batsman Irfan Ahmed will be hoping to lead Hong Kong to its first ever Cup title at the Karp Group Hong Kong Sixes next weekend as the hosts named a powerful squad for the eight-team tournament at the Kowloon Cricket Club.

Irfan, who missed last year’s tournament, returns to a side which includes four players from the team which reached the Cup semi-finals 12 months ago – Moner Dar, Tanwir Afzal, Nizakat Khan and Babar Hayat.

India named a strong squad for the Hong Kong Sixes


The India team for the KARP Group Hong Kong Sixes (Oct 27-28 at Kowloon Cricket Club) has been announced.  The team is the first specialist sixes side selected for the Hong Kong Sixes.  India is grouped in Pool B alongside defending champions Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands.

“This is the first time the Indian team has been selected with the unique format of the Sixes in mind and I believe we have one of the best combinations,” warned Vivek Bakshi, manager of the Indian squad.

Jehan Mubarak to lead Sri Lanka in Hong Kong Sixes 2012


SLC named Jehan Mubarak as a cptain  of Sri Lanka in Hong Kong Sixes 2012. At a Selection Committee meeting held  the following squad was selected to participate in the above series to be held in Hong Kong from the 25th to 29 October 2012. The Hon Minister also has approved same.

Pakistan named Squad for Hong Kong Super Sixes


Wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal will lead defending champion Pakistan in the Hong Kong Super Sixes later this month, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced on Monday.

Akmal’s younger brother Umar was also named in the seven-man squad that include hard-hitting opening batsman Owais Zia, allrounder Hammad Azam, fast bowlers Junaid Khan and Tanveer Ahmed and legspinner Yasir Shah.

South Africa named Squad for the Hong Kong Sixes


Khaya Zondo, the only centurion in last season’s domestic T20, has been included in the South African team for next month’s Hong Kong Super Sixes competition.
The tournament takes place on October 27 and 28, 2012.
The 22-year-old Sunfoil Dolphins batsman was the one player to benefit from the temporary inclusion of the New Age Impi team in last season’s competition. His unbeaten century against the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras at Boland Park, Paarl, came off just 65 balls. He went on to finish the campaign with 259 runs at an average of 32.37 with a strike rate of 112.60.
