Pakistan named Squad for Hong Kong Super Sixes

Wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal will lead defending champion Pakistan in the Hong Kong Super Sixes later this month, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced on Monday.

Akmal’s younger brother Umar was also named in the seven-man squad that include hard-hitting opening batsman Owais Zia, allrounder Hammad Azam, fast bowlers Junaid Khan and Tanveer Ahmed and legspinner Yasir Shah.

Pakistan defeated England by 35 runs in last year’s final.

The eight-nation event will be played Oct. 27-28. Pakistan is in Pool B with archrival India, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands.

Pool A comprises Australia, South Africa, England and host Hong Kong.
