Team owners have right to sell shares – Nishantha Ranathunga

Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Nishantha Ranatunga states that buyers of SLPL teams have the right to add more partners according to their wishes. The Sri Lanka Premier League is to commence on August 11 with seven teams in action.
Ranatunga denied the allegation which appeared in certain newspapers that the buyers of the Kandurata team had pulled out of SLPL. “Upto now I am not aware of the same and they have not sent any official document regarding this issue.”
It is believed that Bollywood star Salman Khan is also taking a great interest in joining hands with the SLPL. The present owner of Kandurata Warriors is ‘Number One Sports Consultant Private Limited’. This was confirmed by the SLPL website report that appeared a few days ago. The website further adds that three more buyers of teams are willing to offer share for new buyers who are
ready to enter the fray. Though owner of the team has the right sell shares they are not permitted to sell the same without the consent of SLC and if they do so with the consent they are liable to pay 10 percent to Sri Lanka Cricket.
Rantunga speaking on the subject of umpires said, “Upto date none of the umpires have written to us stating their inability to do officiate at the SLPL. If they are not happy with the payment they must inform us in writing.
“If they do so we have many umpires in the waiting list who can be given the opportunity.”
An anti corruption team appointed by the world governing body for cricket (ICC) will arrive in the island shortly to set up the anti corruption unit with the assistance of SLC’s CEO.
