Attacking the Indian spinners is the best possible way to survive against them, according to New Zealand captain Ross Taylor.
The visitors lost by an innings and 115 runs in the first Test in Hyderabad with the Indian spin duo of off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha sharing 18 of the 20 wickets.
New Zealand were bundled out for 159 and 164 in their first and second innings respectively and need to tackle the spinners better if they are to avoid a whitewash in the two-Test series.

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not invited to a party which former test player V.V.S. Laxman hosted here for some senior members of the team at his residence here.

Badrinath to replace Laxman for New Zealand Test series

S Badrinath has been recalled into the Indian Test team as replacement of the just retired VVS Laxman.
"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named S. Badrinath as VVS Laxman's replacement in the Indian team for the Test series against New Zealand, which commences at Hyderabad on 23 August 2012," secretary Sanjay Jagdale was quoted as saying by a BCCI media release.

Laxman retired from International Cricket

VVS Laxman has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect, ending a 16-year career. Laxman, 37, had been included in India's squad for the home series against New Zealand starting next week but said he wouldn't be part of the series. 
"I would like to announce my retirement from international cricket with immediate effect," Laxman said. "I have always kept my country's success and need ahead of my personal aspirations. And while I would love contributing to the team's success, especially against England and Australia, I think this is the right time to give the youngsters a chance in home conditions ahead of international assignments.

The Indian cricketers are geared up for the long season ahead and are both physically and mentally ready for the packed calendar, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said on Thursday.
"The team is all fit from the physical and mental aspects. The one and a half months break (after last IPL) was very good from the physical and mental aspect.
"Even on the tour of Sri Lanka (where the team played five ODIs and a lone T20 game against the hosts) we had breaks between each game. We are quite ready for the packed season ahead," said Dhoni at the launch of a new national T20 jersey by the Indian Cricket Board's apparel sponsors Nike.

Sachin Tendulkar begins preparations for New Zealand Test series

Premier Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar began preparations for the upcoming New Zealand Test series with a practice session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), on Wednesday.
Tendulkar arrived in Bangalore from Mumbai on Wednesday morning and came to the NCA around 1.30 pm.

The BCCI's selection committee will meet in Mumbai on August 10 to pick the squad for the Test series against New Zealand at home starting August 23.
According to BCCI media release on Saturday"The All-India Senior Selection Committee will meet at 11:30 am on Friday, 10 August 2012, at the Cricket Centre, Mumbai, to pick the Indian team for the Test series against New Zealand in August-September 2012, and the subsequent India 'A' tour of New Zealand,".
