Ireland to play Sri Lanka A as a warm-up for the ICC WorldT20
Ireland’s preparations for the ICC World Twenty 20 have been expanded and will include a fixture against Sri Lanka ‘A’ this coming Monday. The Twenty 20 match will be played at the iconic Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo and will serve as further build up before the two ‘official’ warm up matches against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe at the Moors Cricket Club ground on Thursday and the following Monday.
Cricket Ireland Performance Director Richard Holdsworth commented on the fixture ‘The additional match practice will be very helpful in ensuring the squad adapt to the conditions in Sri Lanka. Thanks must go to the ICC High Performance Programme & Sri Lanka Cricket for their assistance in the organisation of our training camp and the additional fixture against Sri Lanka ‘A’, the additional time in Sri Lanka will no doubt ensure that we go into the ICC World Twenty 20 extremely well prepared for the tournament’
