How SLPL going to Survive in big Stage

Today we are analyzing how SLPL going to survive in world cricket as cricketing world starts giving attention to SLPL . Everyone have their benchmark on SLPL to the IPL but everyone including SLC should understand the overwhelming reality that IPL is bit to far leading on the industry of t20 leagues.
Imitating the IPL wouldn’t benefit Sri Lanka for two reasons first is IPL went 2 months and people are still suffering the fatigue of watching IPL and similar tournament wouldn’t attract many audience as IPL itself is bit over done and other reason is India being so close and Sri Lanka cant offer anything different in pitches wise, culture wise or competition wise and therefore SLPL being in IPL model could result in SLPL becoming a low quality product. People who learning Management would no when you have such a strong market leader with huge market it is not easy to remove or replace it. So the strategy should be to offer a Differentiated product or Focus on niche Market. It seems what better for SLPL is to become different.

There are many ways to SLC to make SLPL a different one from IPL and even from all the other t20 leagues around the world. For that SLC is better of trying to get insights from other popular sport leagues around the world such as Football Leagues, NBA, NFL, and Top 14 rugby.

SLC put there first step right by announcing that they would adopt a draft system to assign players to each team which used by NBA in the USA, with a lottery to decide the order in which the teams can sign up the players. Therefore SLPL wont have a player’s auction like in IPL.

SLC could make another few changes like increasing the number of foreign players per side to 5 to increase the quality of the tournament. May be they can enable the teams to
Have a fifth foreign player from associate country like teams can have only four players from test playing nation and one player from associate country like Ireland, Afghanistan, Netherland or Canada.

SLC could issue percentage of stake of the SLPL franchises for the public (5 or 10 percent to public), which makes more people being owners of the franchisers, and make more people keenly following there franchises and it makes people change of being just fans to becoming keen followers as it make certain franchise is their own franchise. For this to effect every franchise should have good corporate structure and management.

If SLC smart enough to follow different leagues in world they would find few more strategies to make SLPL different from IPL.And they would be able to survive SLPL for a long time.
