Pakistan's Afridi, Umar Akmal and Ajmal cleared to play in Big Bash


Pakistan on Monday allowed three players to compete in the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash League, following a request from Australian cricket authorities.Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal and Umar Akmal had all signed up to play in the league from next month, but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) last week refused permission.

Ajmal to represent Adelaide Strikers


Pakistan's world No 1 Twenty20 offspinner Saeed Ajmal will represent Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League this season.

Ajmal will play in the Strikers' first game against Perth Scorchers on December 9 and then may return in January 2013 after playing one-day and Twenty20 series against archrival India.

Sprint Star Yohan Blake Starts Cricket Practices


He is yet to be picked up by a KFC T20 Big Bash League team, but Yohan Blake is brushing up on his cricket skills anyway.
The Jamaican sprint superstar, who finished second to Usain Bolt in the 100m and 200m at the London Olympics before claiming gold alongside Bolt in the 4 x 100m relay, expressed an interest in playing in the Big Bash League in August.

His interest was reciprocated by Sydney Sixers, with chief executive Stuart Clark saying his franchise would be keen to see Blake pad up in Australia.

Chris Gayle Backs Usain Bolts Cricketing Skills


West Indies star Chris Gayle has backed sprint legend Usain Bolt's cricketing skills, saying that the Jamaican athlete wouldn't look out of place if he was signed by Melbourne Stars to play in this season's Big Bash League in Australia.
Gayle said he's in constant touch with his fellow Jamaican and sprint star, and warned that he would be a 'danger' to others rather than himself if he rediscovered the form of his junior cricket days.

Pietersen put Big Bash on Hold

Kevin Pietersen has put on hold a six-figure offer by Cricket Australia to play for the Big Bash champions Sydney Sixers with the disgruntled batsman's attempts to repair his relationship with the England team management still taking time.
England sacked Pietersen for disloyalty after he denigrated Test captain Andrew Strauss and his teammates in text messages to some South African players.
If the England Cricket Board's unforgiving mood continues and Pietersen is overlooked for the tour of India during the Australian summer, the Big Bash is likely to be Pietersen's best and only offer.

Malinga Joins Melbourne Stars in Big Bash League

 Shane Warne has been confirmed as the captain of the Melbourne Stars for this season's Big Bash League, and he will be joined by Lasith Malinga in the line-up. The Stars unveiled their latest signings on Tuesday in Melbourne, which brings their list to 16 and leaves them with two more spaces to fill before the November 30 deadline.
