Absence of Indian Cricketers wouldn't affect SLPL - Aravinda de Silva

Sri Lankan legendry batsman Aravinda de Silva, speaking at an event to announce Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd's association with the SLPL as the title sponsor. The league will kick off on August 11.
De Silva, said that the absence of Indian cricketers would not affect the tournament as other international stars from across the globe are a part of the event.
"I think there are a lot of international stars involved in it. Whether they are Indian, Australian or West Indian, it really doesn't matter as long as they are the part of the tournament," he said.
Assuming that the upcoming New Zealand series has prevented the Indian cricketers from being a part of the event, he said even if the Sri Lanka had any international commitment then they wouldn't have been available for the IPL.
He also insisted on the need of the players having a reasonable guarantee from the franchise holders for their payments as their were many reports in IPL and BPL regarding non payment of players. "I hope this (non-payment) doesn't happen here in the SLPL for the players' sake. I think the respective boards should try to make sure they get reasonable guarantee from the franchise holders to ensure players get their contracted amount," said  the former star.
