Tougher times ahead for Perera - Dav Whatmore

Pakistan coach Dav Whatmore admitted that all-rounder Thisara Perera has caused his side huge trouble with a few match winning performances, but reminded that for all cricketers the initial years in the international circuit are the easiest and it gets tougher from thereon as oppositions work out on individuals’ weak links.Perera took a career best four for 63 and then smashed 75 runs in Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 337 all out.

Whatmore said,"He’s fairly new to international cricket. It will take a little bit of time for teams to have a true appreciation of the damage he can do. It will be harder for him in his second and third years of international cricket. What we’ve seen now is he has a real physical presence for the home team and a thorn for the visiting team. He’s a strong boy and thrives on brute strength. Anything that he touches seems to turn into gold. He’s done well for his team".
