India fly and Sri Lanka drive to Hambantota

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) doesn’t seem to bother to take good care of their players, even though it may be just days before leading up to an important series against world champions, India. It emerged Wednesday, that while SLC had arranged for the Indian players to be flown to Hambantota, the Sri Lankans were supposed to go on the team bus, spending a good five to six hours, warming their posteriors.

Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene, asked about the step-motherly treatment his team had been meted out with, was diplomatic in his answer. "Are you guys flying?" Jayawardene asked M. S. Dhoni, after a journalist alerted him about the situation. "Well, it’s a pleasant drive, especially on the highway. I am sure the boys will enjoy it. We will have some music. Graham Ford, our coach, I don’t think enjoys the bus ride, but I guess he will have to put up with that," Jayawardene joked.
