Akila Dananjaya Perera Sri Lakan new spin sensation could become Sri Lanka's weapon for their quest to become World t-20 champions. Dananjaya 18 years of age has not played first class cricket or List A cricket. He was included on captains request in the 30 man preliminery squad for the ICC world T-20. In the SLPL so far he is the best young cricketer on show playing like a 25 year old and bowling with lot of confidence. Out of many World class spinners on show in the SLPL Dananjay is the most economical spinner of the tournament going at 4.81 for an over after 4 matches.
He also picked up 7 wickets from 4 matches and troubled the most of the batsman. His stock ball is the off spinner and he bowled leg spinners, googly, skidder and top spinner as his variations. It seems he had done enough to impress the cptain and selectors to pick him for the World Cup. All the participating teams for the world t-20 need to name their squad before saturday. Sri Lanka will be happy about their major batsmans performance in the SLPL so far leading up to the world t-20 as Skipper Mahela Jayawardena, T M Dilshan and Angelo Mathews all performed well so far.Shaminda Eranga who bowled well baring yesterday's match will also has a chance to be in the squad. Dilhara Fernando who is the leading wicket taker in the SLPL till yesterday may also could get another chance with national squad though he did struggle to ball with the new ball.He also had the benifit that other fast bowler in contention Nuwan Pradeep only played a single game so far. Ajantha Mendis returning from injury picked up some wickets and bowled well in patches could get the nod ahead of Rangana Herath and Sachithra Senanayake as he is a genuine match winner.Nuwan Kulasekara and Sangakkara both expected to be fit and include in the Squad. Only concern for Sri Lanka is any of their youngsters unable to come up with match winning batting performance apart from Thisra Perera's 72 in a lossing match.Sri Lanka may give Chamra Kapugedara another go in the side even with enomus pressure from the media to left him out. He is having an ordinary SLPL but his powerful batting and extraodinary fielding may give him a chance to sneak in to the final 15.
