ICC World T-20 Team Preview - India

Champions of 50 overs World Cup,India will go in to the T-20 world cup as one of the favourites to win the tournament for the 2nd time. India had named thier 15 member squad for the tournament earlier this week. India in familiar teritory and one of  most succesful places in recent history will have the understanding of using the Sri Lankan condition well.

India have picked most of their players from 2011 world cup winning team apart from sachin and they have recalled experience players like Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh (coming back from injury) to the squad. Surprissing selection for the squad is Piyush Chawla ahead of Rahul Sharma, who bowled well in his limited opportunities.
India always regarded as batting power house in cricket, has a very strong line up for the T-20s. They will have Virendra Shewag and Gautam Gambhir openning the batting. In the conditions in Sri Lanka these two will be the best openning combination on paper. Virat Kolhi new sensation of Indian batting expected to bat at no. 3. His consistency at the top with his aggressive batting in ODIs was treat to watch. But How he will fair in T-20 still to be seen and poor showing in the IPL also raise some question over his adaptability in shortest format of the game. Nevertherless his ability is undoubtable. Yuvraj Singh will likely to bat at no.4 eventhoug he is comming back from long lay off and he is yet to play competitive Cricket. His performance with bat and ball will determine Indias chances in the world Cup as Rohit Sharma was complete;y out of form recently. Therefore Yuvraj's performance becomes much more important. Suresh Raina and M S Dhoni will come at no.5 & 6 depending on the situation of the match and they will be a dangerous duo for the opposition bowlers in latter overs. These to can be best finshes around world cricket at the moment. history says Indian likely to have extra batsman in the team, hence that place will be likely to occupy by Rohit Sharma unless some extrodinary performance from Manoj Tiwary on show in the build up to the tournament.Specially if Yuvaraj can bowl well as he did in the 2011 world cup Indians will more fancied to play an extra batsman.
Indian bowling always have more lows than highs when playing in a high profile tournament. Indians will rely heavily on Zaheer Khan to spearhead the attack. He along with R Aswin will hold the key for the Indian bowling. Irfan Pathan and Ashok Dinda will form the rest of the attack. It's unlikely that Harbhajan Singh will picked unless Aswin struggle badly in the tournament. Yuvraj along with Raina and Sharma will bowl the other overs. When India won Matches most of the time these part time bowlers bowl well and specially Yuvraj was very handy in the past in Sri Lankan conditions.
Indians will rely on their strong batting line up to win matches and cover up the weaknesses in bowling. India has settle look for their batting line up but bowling is long standing worry. They are bound to losse few matches due to their bowling.

Possibility to win the tournament : 95%

Player to watch : Yuvraj Singh

Prediction - Indians are favourites to qualify for the finals. Yuvraj Singh will need to play a huge role in ensuring it.
