Kevin Pietersen will return to squad for tour of India


Kevin Pietersen will return to the England squad on the Test tour of India next month – and could be welcomed back into the fold as early as next week.

The announcement was made after a meeting of the England and Wales Cricket Board on Thursday morning, following talks between Pietersen, the team director Andy Flower and several senior players in Oxford this week.

Kevin Pietersen returned to South Africa on Thursday night after holding a series of clear-the-air meetings with England captain Alastair Cook and other squad members.

The talks, held in Oxford, were part of Pietersen's programme of reintegration into the England team following the text message scandal which split the dressing room. England head out to India a week today and even Cook was uncertain whether Pietersen would be added to the Test squad, although he conceded time was running out
