Sangakkara may lead Sri Lanka again

Kumar Sangakkara is tipped to lead Sri Lanka in the first semi-final against Pakistan at the R. Premadasa International Stadium, on Thursday. The decision is a precautionary measure against a possible slow over rate, which always happens in T20 games.
Sangakkara led Sri Lanka to a 19 run win against England at Pallekele International Stadium, on Monday, as the host nation qualified for the semi-finals.

Mahela Jayawardene stepped down from the captaincy, on a technical issue, after he was fined a 20% of his match fee in their super 8 game against West Indies at Pallekele. The Sri Lanka skipper will be banned for one match in case he faces a similar charge during a period of 12 months.
Provided another slow over rate against Pakistan, on Thursday, Jayawardene may not be able to play in the final if Sri Lanka qualifies.
"The management and I felt that we need to do something to handle certain situations," Jayawardene told reporters at R. Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday.
"Different people will have different opinions, but there was no malice on our part. I spoke to Stuart Broad as well before the match and he was fine with that," Jayawardene said.
"I can’t stop people thinking whether it was in the right spirit or stuff. I haven’t done anything wrong to any team, player or individual. We just did a tactical move like we would have done at a match. Like a bowling change and batting change we just changed our captain," Jayawardene added further.
Angelo Mathews too faces a similar fine during the T20 international against Pakistan, played at Sooriyawewa in July.
According to the ICC code of conduct, two fines for slow over-rate within 12 months will see the captain banned for one game.
