Celebs Party With Chris Gayle for Support His New Charity Foundation

The upper echelon of the social pyramid turned out in fine style on Saturday night to party with Jamaican all-star cricketer Chris Gayle in support of the Chris Gayle Foundation.

The star-studded event took place at a mansion in Chancery Hall, St Andrew, and epitomised the term 'first-class'. From the decor to the dance floor, patrons were treated like celebrities at the all-inclusive celebration.
Most of the attendees had to commute to the venue via buses, which used the grounds of Meadowbrook High School as their pickup/drop-off point. The journey was more than worth it, however, as upon arrival, guests were regaled with a variety of delectable morsels, which is just what was needed after the long ride. There were several bars and food stations located around the venue and each was stocked with something different, catering to everyone's needs.

CEO of Solid Agency Management, Sharon Burke, told The Gleaner that she was more than happy with the support that Gayle had received and also with the turnout for the inaugural staging of the event, which she says will be an annual affair.

According to Burke, Solid Agency, which produced the event, will be working alongside Gayle and his manager, Radcliffe Haynes, with the Chris Gayle Foundation and other endeavours.

Gayle also expressed his appreciation for the support that his foundation has been receiving.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Lucas Cricket Club through the Chris Gayle Foundation. The club where the West Indies star player got his start unveiled a cricket nursery named after Gayle in his honour on Friday.

A-LISTERS TURN OUT

Gayle's philanthropic effort lured a slew of A-listers, including track legend Usain Bolt, the self-proclaimed king of dancehall Beenie Man, and reggae veteran Shaggy.

Marketing manager at Restaurants of Jamaica Limited, Tina Matalon, was also in attendance and expressed that she was looking forward to supporting Gayle's future philanthropic efforts. Matalon revealed that she is not a cricket fan, but she appreciates the sport and also Gayle's humanitarian actions.

"I think Chris is a fantastic person and I love the fact that he, and a lot of other athletes and entertainers who have done so much in their careers, are endeavouring to build something significant and give back to Jamaica," Matalon said.

The corporate big-shot also made reference to the Shaggy Foundation and its work for the Bustamante Hospital for Children as a possible pioneer in humanitarianism among successful Jamaicans.
