Sachin should decide to step down at his best - Imran Khan

Pakistan’s former captain, Imran Khan, believes that Sachin Tendulkar is one of the greatest batsmen of all times and should decide to step down at his best, rather than leaving it to the selectors.
The 39-year-old cricketer made his international debut in 1989, when he was just 16. The Little Master, even after 23 years, is still an integral part of the Indian team in Tests as well as in One Day International cricket.

With almost 34 thousand runs at the game’s ultimate stage and a hundred centuries, there is no other batsman in history who comes even close to the magical player’s stats.
However, the great batsman has not been at his best over the last 14 months, scoring at an average of only 35.04 runs per innings since July 2011, which is quite contradictory to his career average of 55.08.
Imran, who is considered to be one of history’s greatest captains, expressed while talking to NDTV that the Little Master should call it a day from competitive cricket before he faces a further slump of form.
"Sachin is such a great player but I can only say if I were in his position, I would want to leave on a high and my greatest worry was that I should never be at the mercy of the selectors," said Imran.
The legendary cricketer understands that Tendulkar is not just a player in India, and is worshipped by the masses; however, Imran wants the cricketer from Mumbai to leave good memories behind, instead of being remembered as a cricketer who retired at his career’s lowest point.
"I can understand the Indian public, who has been watching him for 23 years. They can't imagine life without Sachin. But from Sachin's point of view, knowing that the kind of pride that he takes in his cricket. There must be a time when he should decide that this is the right time to leave," the cricketer-turned-politician added.
