Pakistan and India have the edge in ICC World T-20
Out of favour Pakistan skipper Misbah-Ul-Haq feels India and Pakistan are favourites to win the fourth edition of the World Twenty20, to be played, in Sri Lanka later this month.
Misbah, who led Pakistan in the just-concluded ODI series against Australia, was surprisingly dropped from Pakistan's squad for the ICC event.
The unflappable Pakistan batsman, however, feels the 2009 champions have the maturity and skill to repeat their World Cup-winning performance.
"Wickets in Sri Lanka will be tricky as it neither supports fast bowlers nor does it show excessive spin. Bowlers who have the variety will thrive on Lankan tracks and that gives teams like Pakistan and West Indies the advantage," Misbah told TOI on Friday.
The Pakistan Test and ODI skipper, however, warned teams against taking teams like India, England and Australia lightly.
"India will mainly depend upon their batting. The likes of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina are skillful candidates and they suit the T20 format nicely.
They are good hitters of the ball and the depth in their batting makes India a tough side to beat. Australia are also a good team with a mix of youngsters. But to depend solely on their pacers could backfire in Sri Lanka.
England have some very good bowlers and Graeme Swann could play a vital role for the defending champions," he said.
According to Misbah, Saeed Ajmal would be Pakistan's trump card in the ICC meet.
"Ajmal is a world class bowler. He has variations and lot of batsmen struggle to pick his loop and spin. With Shahid Afridi, the two can trouble any side in the world," he said.
