We Have Talented and Good Team - Sri Lankan U-19 Captain
The Sri Lanka U-19 team left the country yesterday (Friday) to take part in the U-19 World Cup held in Australia from August 11 to 26.
Sanitha De Mel, the young Sri Lankan skipper said in an interview he is happy with the team, "Entire team is talented and good. We have four experience players in the side Niroshan Dickwella, Anjelo Jayasinghe,Sandun Weerakkody and Amila Aponso who has played U-19 for a while now".
He further said team will look to take Matches one by one and try win them and finish in top 2 in their group,"The team is focusing on winning one match at a time to go forward step by step. We have to come to the first 2 in the group to go to the super 8. The two tough teams in our group will be Bangladesh and South Africa. The main focus and the team plan are to play our best in those two matches.”
Speaking about the captaincy he said,He is happy and honored and hope to balance it with his bowling and batting,"I am really happy and honored to be the Captain of the Sri Lankan team for the U-19 World Cup. It is a rare opportunity. I don’t think captaincy is a burden of it will affect me. But I know it is a big responsibility and I need to balance it with my bowling and batting too".
