Top Picks in the SLPL player Draft

Yesterday’s foreign players draft was concluded with several world-class players drafting for 7 franchises of SLPL. Australians and Pakistanis dominated the draft. But more interestingly there were many Bangladeshis (5) as well.

Looking at the draft we have picked the top player drafted for each franchise in SLPL.

1.Uthura – Shakib Al Hasan

         Even though he represent Bangladesh arguably the current best all rounder in the world is the most attractive picked by Uthura. When considered the pitches he is going to be playing he will be handy with both bat & ball. He alongside with Murali will form a great threat to the opposition. He has the potential to become the top international performer in SLPL.

2.Nagenahira – Imran Nazir

        The Pakistan Opening batsman who can be devastating on his day is the best pick for Nagenahira. The Franchise has opted to lot of low-key players and Imran Nazir is the most experience player in the team. Nazir had a brilliant Bangladesh Premier league could take any attack a part. Nazir is have to fire big time if Nagenahira to Shine in SLPL.

3.Ruhuna – Sahid Afridi

        The Pakistani all rounder who was named as icon player of the Nagenahira is picked by ruhuna as Nagenhira opted to release him. Even though he is likely to miss the end of tournament he is more than capable of making sure his team finish in the top 4 teams. His Leg Spinners could be a big threat in Sri Lankan Pitches. If he fires with bat it will be more helpful to Ruhuna.If the owners think about the league phase he could be appointed as the captain of the team as their icon player Maling has little experience in captaining high profile team.

4. Waymba – Kemar Roach

        West Indian Paceman Roach will return after injury in this tournament.Waymba who picked lot of all rounders will hope Roach could trouble batsman with his pace.Bowler who can bowl around 150km could trouble any batsman specially the local batsman who don’t have the experience of pacing that much pace.Under the leadership of Mahela waymba will use Roach effectively.

5. Kandurata – Albie Morkel

        From all the franchises in SLPL Kandurata has picked the most balance and most experience players.Kandurata with Saeed Ajmal,Sohail Tanvir, Misbah Ul Haq in the side it is hard for picked there best pick. But Morkels  exploits with the bat could be the spark which required best for the team which has the likes of Sangakkara and Misbah to steady the innings.We could see albie coming in early in the batting order in this tournament.

6.Basnahira – Marlon Samuels

      Basnahira team has picked lot of experience players including Brad Hodge and Dirk Nannes.But Marlon Samuels who is in good form against England could take the team to victory with his bat and ball.His Ability hit big shot when required and his sound technique could ensure him scoring big runs in the tournament.

7.Uva – Umar Gul

       Chris Gayle being the icon player made him unavailable for the draft there for the pick of the uva side is Umar Gul. Best T20 past bowler behind Maling Gul is the best choice by Uva as they have Gayle to Power a huge total when defending totals Gul can become really handy.Fast Bowlers expected to use reverse swing to advantage in dry conditions Umar Gul is the best person to exploit it. He and Malinga could be challenging each other at the Depth to see who will be the best bowler in slog overs.
